    Yep, idol life in Japan or Korea is way harder than say the EU or in the States. It’s a huge risk to go by yourself. Even if not, as can be seen by AKB48’s example (generally true in any other area, too):

    there’s a huge gab between No.3 and No.4

    The top 5 are usually preferred while No.6 & 7 are just replacement, the rest hardly counts.

    Ono Erena, from Majisuka Gakuen2, for example left on her own. People were asking what happened. I dunno but she appears to have done the OP for Legal High and got some screen time. She gave up showbiz for good just a few months ago.

    Oshima Yuko, the miss perfect student council president turned idol, had lots of fun (doing pranks). Now that she graduated from the group all I know is she did some movies. I haven’t see any yet and I kind of have doubts.

    Well, I’m not that into idol so I can’t really draw good examples.

    Lifetime for an idol isn’t long regardless. Its a stepping stone for becoming an actress. I think the direct path is easier, though.
